22 Days Nutrition Review.. and Giveaway!

Time for a review and a Giveaway! I contacted 22 Days Nutrition after working out with the Jillian Michaels videos and heard about these bars. I finally checked them out online and couldn’t stop thinking about them… Weird? Not at all. 22 Days Nutrition bars are made without all the processed “JUNK” often seen in a lot of protein and “health” bars. These are great for on the go, pre and post work-out or for a quick snack when your belly is grumbling.

It’s true what they say- you are what you eat. So why not eat something good?

I was most excited about this one. The DAILY MOCHA MANTRA. First impression- it’s going to be awesome. Because I saw the organic coffee in the ingredients list? Yep.. and I was spot on with my predictions. It’s amazingly delicious. Wait- Chocolate and Coffee in a health protein bar? It’s because it’s unprocessed & organic that makes it A-OK. Hemp too? Hemp is a great source of protein that is easily digestible. (Remember these hemp muffins?) This bar has the perfect amount of sweetness to it without being too chocolatey which can be too overbearing in protein bars. This one is my favorite… by far.

Next up was the FRUIT NUT KARMA. First impression- sounds good however I’ve had my fair share of fruit nut bars that fall short in taste. I was weary it would be too tangy and tropical which I am not a fan of. After tasting this one I’m happy to tell you this one is a winner. It’s packed with just the right amount of fruit and creamy nut butter to give it a nice balance of flavors. I love the little pineapple pieces in there! It’s not overly powering with fruit and not super sweet, great bar.

Onto GOJI MATE FIRECRACKER. My first impression of this without looking at the ingredients was that it would have some chili pepper or be spicy and I got really excited! How awesome would that be a sweet, salty and spicy protein bar- is there such a thing?! Then I tried this bar and was PLEASANTLY surprised!!! No, it’s not spicy, but this one has Goji berries in it- they’re full of flavor and something I’ve never had before in a protein bar- really good!

Here’s the CHERRY CHOCOLATE BLISS First impression- it’s going to be too tart with chunks of cherries in it… However- cherries are suppose to help with sleeping so this might be a good night time snack with 6 gm of protein in a pinch! This bar tasted like a chocolate covered cherry, with bursts of cherries and chunks of chocolate in it. This bar isn’t tart and has a sweet cherry flavor that actually tastes like cherries, not that fake cherry flavoring in other bars. Winner!

ENLIGHTENED PUMPKINSEED caught my eye. Was it because it had my favorite color for the packaging or because it says pumpkin on it? Either way my first impression was that it would be full seeds to keep me full. Flavor wise- pumpkin seeds are pretty mild yet full of protein and vitamins. The flavor was something I’ve never had before, to my surprise this bar had sunflower seeds which gave it a nice little crunch and punch of flavor. All of these bars are so different in flavor it would be hard to get sick of them ;)

Saving the best for last? NUT BUTTER BUDDHA. I mean come on people- anything with nut butter I’m all over it. First impression- it’s going to be smooth and creamy with a chocolatey coating that melts in my mouth. This one was kind of a disappointment, yet still a great bar. This one had huge flavor just not for me. JB liked it, I just couldn’t stop thinking about the Daily Mocha Mantra ;) All in all a great bar with great ingredients- just not my favorite, maybe it will be yours?

  • cherry chocolate bliss!!! My goal is to to spend more time cooking recipes. I eat pretty healthy, but I tend to eat things that need minimal cooking. For instance, a long time ago, I would make veggie lasagnas, healthy baked desserts, etc. Lately I buy things that don’t need any cooking or hardly any. I LUV energy bars and I would ADORE to try them. I make my own (usually only kinds that don’t require baking), but it isn’t that easy to have them come out right, and I TRULY appreciate bars that have been perfected by loving hands!!!

  • What better can there be than Coffee and Chocolate (= Mocha)? Hmm – maybe cherries and chocolate … But they all sound good – need to get on the bike to have an excuse to eat them :-)
Healthy eating – continue being off the Fish ‘n Chips and into fruit & veg, which worked wonders last year!!!
